Sir Gilbert John Baptist Muria is a highly respected legal professional from the Solomon Islands. He made history as the first indigenous Solomon Islander to serve as Chief Justice of Solomon Islands from 1992 to 2003. Following his tenure in Solomon Islands, he served as a judge in various capacities in Sierra Leone, Belize, and Kiribati. Additionally, he was appointed Chancellor of the Solomon Islands National University. In 2021, he took on a new role as a judge of the High Court of Tuvalu, showcasing his extensive experience and expertise in the field of law.
