Joe Simon was a prominent American comic book writer, artist, editor, and publisher recognized for co-creating legendary characters in the Golden Age of Comic Books. He was the inaugural editor of Timely Comics, which evolved into Marvel Comics. Alongside Jack Kirby, he co-created Captain America and collaborated on several projects for DC Comics. Simon and Kirby were trailblazers in romance and horror comics, and Simon went on to explore advertising and establish the magazine Sick. In 1999, he was honored with induction into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame.
