Jim Abbott is a former American professional baseball pitcher who overcame the challenge of being born without a right hand to achieve success in Major League Baseball from 1989 to 1999. He graduated from Flint Central High School, was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays but opted for college. Abbott excelled in college, winning awards and a gold medal in the 1988 Olympics. He threw a no-hitter for the New York Yankees and concluded his career with 87 wins and 108 losses. Abbott now serves as a motivational speaker.
