Jessica Lynch is an American teacher, actress, and former United States Army soldier who gained recognition for her service during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Serving as a unit supply specialist with the 507th Maintenance Company, she was injured and captured by Iraqi soldiers during an ambush. Lynch was successfully rescued by U.S. special operations forces, marking the first successful rescue of an American prisoner of war since World War II and the first ever of a woman. Following the incident, she transitioned into acting and made her debut in the film Virtuous.
