James Jamerson was a highly acclaimed American bass player who played on numerous Motown Records hits in the 1960s and early 1970s. His uncredited work on over twenty-three Billboard Hot 100 number-one hits and fifty-six R&B number-one hits established him as one of the most influential bass players in music history. In 2000, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and was hailed by Bass Player magazine and Rolling Stone magazine as the most important and influential bass guitarist of all time.
