James Benson Irwin was a distinguished American astronaut, aeronautical engineer, test pilot, and United States Air Force pilot. He achieved a significant milestone as the Lunar Module pilot for Apollo 15, part of the fourth successful human lunar landing. Irwin was the 8th person to walk on the Moon and the first, as well as the youngest, among those astronauts to pass away.
