Jacopo de’ Pazzi, a renowned Florentine banker, commissioned the construction of Palazzo Pazzi. He had Stefano di Ser Niccolo da Bagnone as his secretary and daughter’s tutor. In 1464, Jacopo became the head of the Pazzi family. He was a key figure in the failed Pazzi conspiracy, a plot to overthrow the ruling Medici family in Florence. After the unsuccessful assassination attempt on the Medici brothers, Jacopo fled the city but was later captured, tortured, and publicly executed.
