Ivan Ivanovych Biakov was a successful Soviet biathlete who won gold medals at the 1972 and 1976 Winter Olympics as part of the Soviet relay team. He also represented the Kazakhstani team at the People’s Spartakiad of the Soviet Union in 1966. Later in his career, Biakov became the director of the Kyiv school of higher sports mastery and played a significant role in the establishment of the Ukrainian Federation in biathlon, where he served as its first president.
