Hugh Trenchard was a British military officer known as the “Father of the Royal Air Force” for his pivotal role in its formation. Despite early academic challenges, Trenchard served in military campaigns such as the Boer War and in Nigeria. He learned to fly in 1912 and held important roles in the Royal Flying Corps during World War I. Trenchard later became Chief of the Air Staff and was a leading proponent of strategic bombing.
