Heinrich Ehrler was a skilled German Luftwaffe military aviator and wing commander during World War II. Credited with 208 enemy aircraft shot down over more than 400 combat missions, he initially served in artillery and anti-aircraft artillery before transferring to the Jagdwaffe. Ehrler flew with Jagdgeschwader 77 and Jagdgeschwader 5, achieving most of his victories on the Eastern Front. Despite facing a court-martial and losing his command, his sentence was eventually commuted, allowing him to continue flying in air battles until his death in April 1945.
