Hal Higdon is a well-known American author and runner recognized for his training programs. With a career spanning more than six decades, he has written 34 books, including the popular Marathon: The Ultimate Training Guide. Higdon’s expertise also extends to children’s literature, with one of his books being adapted into an animated film. As a respected freelance writer since 1959, he holds the record for the longest tenure as a contributor to Runner’s World magazine. Higdon has competed in eight U.S. Olympic Trials and achieved success in four World Masters Championships. He also played a significant role in establishing the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA).
