Golda Meir was a notable Israeli politician who was the first and only female to serve as the fourth prime minister of Israel in the Middle East. Meir was a signatory of the Israeli Declaration of Independence, served as Labor Minister and Foreign Minister, before becoming prime minister in 1969.
