Giovanni Falcone was an Italian judge and prosecuting magistrate known for his relentless fight against the Sicilian Mafia. His dedication to combating organized crime was highlighted during the Maxi Trial in 1986–1987. Tragically, Falcone was assassinated by the Corleonesi Mafia in the Capaci bombing on the A29 motorway. Alongside his colleague Paolo Borsellino, Falcone worked tirelessly to dismantle the Mafia’s influence, ultimately sacrificing their lives in the battle against organized crime.
