Gerda Weissmann Klein was an American writer, human rights activist, and Holocaust survivor known for her autobiographical book, All But My Life. She and her husband, Kurt Klein, were passionate advocates for Holocaust education and human rights, promoting tolerance and community service. Gerda founded Citizenship Counts, a nonprofit organization that highlights the importance of American citizenship. She also served on the governing board of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011, the highest civilian honor in the United States.
