Georg Wilhelm Steller, a German naturalist and explorer, made important contributions to biology, zoology, and ethnography. His observations in the North Pacific region led to the discovery of many previously unknown plants and animals, such as the Steller’s sea cow and Steller’s sea eagle. His research on the Kamchatka Peninsula and Commander Islands enhanced scientific understanding of the region’s biodiversity.
