Gene Vincent, an influential American rock and roll musician, is credited with pioneering the rockabilly style. His band, the Blue Caps, achieved success with the 1956 hit “Be-Bop-a-Lula,” which is considered a significant example of the genre. Although Vincent’s chart success in the US was brief, he found greater popularity in the UK, where he scored eight top 40 hits. His impact on rockabilly music led to inductions into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. Vincent was also known by the nickname “Screaming End.”
