Frédéric Passy, a French economist, pacifist, author, and politician, was a prominent figure in the European peace movement. He served in the Chamber of Deputies from 1881 to 1889 and was a founding member of peace societies and the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Alongside British MP William Randal Cremer, Passy developed the Inter-parliamentary Conference, which later became known as the Inter-Parliamentary Union. His dedication to promoting peace led to him being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1901.
