Florence Kelley was a well-known social and political reformer who coined the term wage abolitionism. She was a strong advocate for various causes such as ending sweatshops, promoting the minimum wage, establishing eight-hour workdays, and protecting children’s rights. As the inaugural general secretary of the National Consumers League starting in 1899, Kelley was instrumental in advancing these movements. She also played a significant role in the establishment of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in 1909.
