He was a pioneer in engineering, planning, and construction supervision, earning the first patent in the Western world in 1421. Brunelleschi is best known for his groundbreaking design of the dome of the Florence Cathedral and for his innovative contributions to the use of linear perspective in art. His extensive body of work encompasses various architectural projects, sculptures, mathematical studies, engineering endeavors, and ship designs, with many of his surviving creations situated in Florence.
