Euronymous, also known as Øystein Aarseth, was a pivotal figure in the early Norwegian black metal scene. As a co-founder and guitarist of Mayhem, he significantly influenced the band’s music and visual style from its founding in 1984 until his tragic passing in 1993. He also founded the extreme metal record label Deathlike Silence Productions and the record store Helvete. Euronymous was recognized for his theistic Satanism beliefs, extreme misanthropic views, and his leadership within the “Black Metal Inner Circle” until his unfortunate demise at the hands of Varg Vikernes.
