Eric Vanderaerden achieved success as a road cyclist, winning prestigious races like prologue time trials in the Vuelta a España and Tour de France, as well as stages in the Tour de France and iconic races such as the Tour of Flanders and Paris–Roubaix. Following his cycling career, he transitioned into team management roles and eventually became a directeur sportif with the DFL-Cyclingnews-Litespeed team, where his son Michael also joined the team.
