Edwin Starr, the American singer and songwriter, gained fame in the 1970s for his Motown singles produced by Norman Whitfield. His chart-topping hit “War” was particularly successful. Starr started his career with Ric-Tic and Motown Records, supported by the band “Black Merda.” His other popular songs include “Twenty-Five Miles” and “Stop the War Now.” In the 1970s, Starr relocated to England and continued to make music until his passing.
