Edward “Ed” Liddy is an American businessman who served as the chairman of the Allstate Corporation from 1999 to 2008. In September 2008, he became the interim chairman and chief executive officer of American International Group, Inc. (AIG) at the request of the U.S. Department of the Treasury to help stabilize U.S. financial firms during the 2007–2008 financial crisis. Liddy accepted a salary of only $1 per year during his tenure at AIG.
