Eddy Grant is a Guyanese-British musician known for his innovative sound and socially-conscious lyrics. He has combined pop, rock, soul, funk, reggae, electronic, African, and Latin music to create a unique genre-blending style. Grant is a pioneer of the “Ringbang” genre and was a member of the racially diverse pop group, the Equals. His successful solo career includes hits such as “I Don’t Wanna Dance” and “Electric Avenue”, the latter earning him a Grammy Award nomination. He is also known for his anti-apartheid anthem “Gimme Hope Jo’anna”.
