He became the first Chief Minister of Kerala and served two terms in office. S. introduced significant land and educational reforms in Kerala, which helped the state achieve a leading position in social indicators. His leadership and commitment were instrumental in shaping the CPI(M) into a major political force in India’s coalition politics.
