Douglas G. Hurley is an American engineer and former Marine Corps pilot who served as a NASA astronaut. He piloted Space Shuttle missions STS-127 and STS-135, which included the final flight of the program. Hurley went on to command the Crew Dragon Demo-2 mission, the first crewed spaceflight from American soil since STS-135, alongside Bob Behnken. They were the first astronauts to launch aboard a commercial orbital spacecraft. Hurley also holds the distinction of being the first Marine to fly the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet and is known by the call sign “Chunky.”
