Douglas Engelbart was an American engineer and inventor known for his major contributions to computer science. He is credited with establishing the field of human-computer interaction and is most famous for inventing the computer mouse, pioneering hypertext, networked computers, and graphical user interfaces. In 1968, he showcased groundbreaking demonstrations known as “The Mother of All Demos” while working at the Augmentation Research Center. Despite encountering obstacles related to funding and lack of interest in his later years, Engelbart persistently advocated for his vision through the Bootstrap Institute.
