Donald Butcher was an English squash player known for his innovative playing style. He won the British Open men’s title in open play in 1930, becoming the first player to do so. He successfully defended his title in 1932 but was unable to do so in subsequent years against Egyptian player F.D. Amr Bey. Butcher also won the British Professional Championship in 1930, 1931, and 1932. He was recognized for deviating from the conventional squash style of his time and was the first to create an instructional squash video in 1938.
