Over his 18-year career in the NBA, he earned the nickname “Mount Mutombo” due to his impressive shot-blocking abilities. Mutombo was a four-time recipient of the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award, leading the league in blocked shots and rebounds. He was selected to eight All-Star teams and competed in the NBA Finals with the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Nets. Mutombo’s jersey number has been retired by two teams, and he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015.
