Dhanraj Pillay is a retired Indian field hockey player and former captain of the India national team. He has had a remarkable impact on the sport, both through his playing career and his contributions off the field. Pillay has been involved in various administrative roles, including overseeing the Air India Sports Promotion Board as a Joint Secretary in Mumbai and managing the SAG Hockey Academy in Gujarat for the past 5 years. Throughout his career, he has represented India in numerous prestigious tournaments such as the Olympic Games, World Cups, and Champion Trophies, accumulating 400 appearances for the national team and scoring 170 goals. In addition to his international exploits, Pillay has also played for various clubs globally and received the Padma Shri award from the government of India in 2000.
