Desiré Wilson is a former racing driver from South Africa who made history as one of the few women to compete in Formula One. Despite failing to qualify in her only Formula One World Championship Grand Prix in 1980, she achieved success in the British Aurora F1 Championship the same year. Wilson later participated in other racing disciplines, including CART and sports car racing. She also attempted to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 in the early 1980s but was unsuccessful.
