David Kilcullen is an Australian author, strategist, and expert in counterinsurgency. He is the non-executive chairman of Caerus Associates, a consulting firm he established, and holds positions as a professor at Arizona State University and University of New South Wales. Kilcullen previously served as chief strategist in the Office of the Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the U.S. State Department and was a senior advisor on counter-insurgency to General David Petraeus during the Iraq War troop surge. He has also worked as a special advisor for counter-insurgency to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and is the author of six books on related topics.
