Daniel Berrigan SJ was a distinguished American Jesuit priest celebrated for his activism as an anti-war advocate, Christian pacifist, playwright, poet, and author. His opposition to the Vietnam War, notably the Catonsville Nine incident, resulted in numerous arrests and a three-year prison term for damaging government property. Undeterred by challenges, Berrigan persisted in his advocacy efforts and played a key role in establishing the Plowshares movement in 1980, which focused on anti-nuclear demonstrations. Additionally, he was a highly regarded author with approximately 50 published works and a committed educator.
