Dáithí Ó Conaill was an Irish republican known for his key roles in different branches of the IRA and Sinn Féin. He was a member of the IRA Army Council for the Provisional IRA and served as vice-president for both Sinn Féin and Republican Sinn Féin. He also became the first chief of staff for the Continuity IRA from 1986 until his death in 1991. Ó Conaill is credited with introducing car bombs to Northern Ireland.
