Clara Peeters was a Flemish still-life painter recognized for her expertise in creating still-life paintings centered around food. She was among the rare female artists of the seventeenth-century Europe who successfully navigated limitations on women’s artistic education and guild participation. Peeters gained acclaim for her work in the Spanish Netherlands and Dutch Republic, particularly for her significant influence on the Netherlandish ontbijtjes and banketjes styles. Her art predominantly featured depictions of food, basic utensils, and lavish banquet settings adorned with luxurious cups and vessels made of precious metals.
