Charles Timothy Hagel is an American military veteran and former politician who served as the United States Secretary of Defense from 2013 to 2015. He was also chairman of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board and a United States Senator representing Nebraska. Hagel co-founded Vanguard Cellular, served in various roles in business, and was a professor at Georgetown University. Before becoming Secretary of Defense, he was involved in several boards of directors, including Chevron Corporation. Hagel resigned in 2014 due to conflicts within the administration, particularly relating to issues concerning ISIL.
