Charles J. Moore is an experienced environmental activist and researcher known for his extensive work in studying plastic pollution in the oceans. He is recognized for discovering the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in the North Pacific Gyre and co-founding the Algalita Marine Research and Education Foundation. Moore has led numerous expeditions, including the JUNK Raft project and research missions to collect water samples for plastic content analysis. In 2020, he established The Moore Institute for Plastic Pollution Research, concentrating on micro- and nano-plastics in the environment.
