Carlos Alberto Valderrama Palacio, also known as “El Pibe,” is a retired Colombian professional footballer and sports commentator. He was an attacking midfielder and is regarded as one of the most outstanding South American players in history. Valderrama was included in the FIFA 100 list of the world’s top living players by Pelé. He earned the South American Footballer of the Year award twice, represented Colombia in three FIFA World Cups and five Copa América tournaments, and played in Major League Soccer, where he contributed to the league’s popularity and was selected for the MLS All-Time Best XI.
