Alvis Edgar “Buck” Owens Jr. was an influential American musician, singer, songwriter, and band leader who led Buck Owens and the Buckaroos to 21 No. 1 hits on the Billboard country music chart. Owens was a key figure in shaping the distinctive Bakersfield sound, characterized by its stripped-down style featuring twangy electric guitar, prominent drum tracks, and high vocal harmonies. In addition to his music career, Owens co-hosted the popular TV show Hee Haw. Throughout his career, Owens faced challenges, including the tragic loss of his guitarist Don Rich. Today, he is a respected member of the Country Music and Nashville Songwriters Halls of Fame.
