Bryan Stevenson, an American lawyer, social justice activist, and law professor, is recognized for his efforts in fighting bias against the poor and minorities in the criminal justice system. He founded and leads the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama. Stevenson has been instrumental in influencing important Supreme Court rulings related to sentencing for young offenders. Additionally, he is the author of the book “Just Mercy” and was portrayed in its film adaptation. Stevenson also launched the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, dedicated to honoring African Americans who were victims of lynching in the Southern United States.
