Bronislava Nijinska was a Russian ballet dancer and innovative choreographer known for her pioneering role in the evolution of classical ballet. She began her career in Saint Petersburg and later joined the Ballets Russes in Paris, where she gained public acclaim for her modern choreographies. Nijinska collaborated with her brother Vaslav Nijinsky on controversial works such as L’Après-midi d’un faune and The Rite of Spring. She went on to become the choreographer for the Ballets Russes, creating cutting-edge ballets like Les Noces. Nijinska continued to work in choreography and as an artistic director in various companies and venues in Europe and the Americas.
