He played for various MLB teams, such as the Los Angeles Dodgers, California Angels, San Diego Padres, New York Mets, and Seattle Mariners. Valentine also managed teams like the Texas Rangers, New York Mets, and Boston Red Sox in MLB, along with the Chiba Lotte Marines in Nippon Professional Baseball. Additionally, he worked as an analyst for ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball and represented CBSSports.com’s Fantasy Sports business. Valentine made a bid for mayor of Stamford, Connecticut, in 2021, but was unsuccessful.
