Bent Larsen, a Danish chess grandmaster, was renowned for his creative and unconventional playing style. In the 1960s and 1970s, he was the second-strongest non-Soviet player after Bobby Fischer. Larsen, a six-time Danish Champion, was a four-time Candidate for the World Chess Championship, making it to the semifinals thrice. He achieved victories over all seven World Champions from 1948 to 1985, despite having an overall negative record against them. Larsen split his time between Las Palmas and Buenos Aires with his wife and passed away in 2010.
