Benny Urquidez, also known as “The Jet,” is a renowned former professional kickboxer, martial arts choreographer, and actor. He is credited with introducing full-contact fighting to the United States, making the switch from non-contact to full-contact karate in 1974. Throughout his impressive career, Urquidez held six world titles in five different weight divisions and remained largely undefeated for 27 years. His official record stands at 49-1-1, although there are discrepancies in total fights due to some being undocumented. In recognition of his achievements, Urquidez was named “Competitor of the Year” in 1978 and was later inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame in 2019. Beyond his martial arts success, he has also showcased his talents in acting, appearing in films such as those featuring Jackie Chan and in Grosse Pointe Blank.
