Sadat departed significantly from Nasserism, introducing a multi-party system and initiating the Infitah economic policy. He led Egypt through the Yom Kippur War of 1973, which ultimately led to the Camp David Accords and the Egypt–Israel peace treaty. For his efforts, he was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize.
