Andrés Bonifacio y de Castro was a Filipino revolutionary leader known as “The Father of the Philippine Revolution” and a national hero of the Philippines. He co-founded the Katipunan, a movement seeking independence from Spanish colonial rule. Bonifacio became the Supreme President of the Katipunan and reorganized it into a revolutionary government. He led the establishment of the Haring Bayang Katagalugan, also known as the Republika ng Katagaluguan. Bonifacio was executed in 1897 for sedition and treason against the government.
