Andrea del Verrocchio was a renowned Italian sculptor, painter, and goldsmith who led a highly influential workshop in Florence. He earned the name “Verrocchio” from his master, a goldsmith. While few paintings are directly credited to him, he mentored prominent artists at his studio, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Pietro Perugino, and Lorenzo di Credi. Verrocchio’s most significant contributions were in sculpture, with his Equestrian statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni in Venice being regarded as his masterpiece.
