Alexandre Darracq was a prominent French investor, engineer, cycle manufacturer, and automobile manufacturer. By 1904, he played a key role in the French automobile industry, producing more than ten percent of all vehicles in the country. Darracq’s business success led him to sell a significant portion of his company to British investors. Despite challenges with the rotary valve engine he introduced, Darracq remained dedicated to its production. He expanded his ventures to Italy, where he established Società Anonima Italiana Darracq, which later evolved into Alfa Romeo.
