Alexander Henderson was a notable Scottish theologian and ecclesiastical statesman who played a crucial role in the development of the Reformed Church in Scotland. Initially supporting episcopacy, he later became a strong advocate for Presbyterianism, actively opposing the Articles of Perth and the Service Book. Henderson was instrumental in drafting both the National Covenant of 1638 and the Solemn League and Covenant of 1643. Throughout his career, he held positions such as Moderator of the General Assembly and Rector of Edinburgh University, and he also represented the Scottish Church at the Westminster Assembly.
