Alberto Salazar is a former American track coach and long-distance runner known for his success in marathon running. He won the New York City Marathon three times and the Boston Marathon once. Salazar also set American track records for 5,000m and 10,000m in 1982. He later served as the head coach of the Nike Oregon Project and received the IAAF Coaching Achievement Award in 2013. However, in 2019, Salazar was banned from athletics for four years due to doping offenses related to athletes he coached. Subsequently, he faced additional bans for allegations of sexual and emotional misconduct.
